Graduate Seminar in Theatre Studies

We, members of the seminar of Theatre Studies at the Graduate School of Letters at Keio University, investigate theatre and opera performances in Europe/Germany and Japan to find out various and sometimes unknown relations of theatre and society. The seminar is open to graduate school students, scholars and artists who wish to expend their knowledge about theatre, art, society, culture, history, politics, ecology etc. through research and discussions.

We are also active in international exchange: The scholars and the graduate students from Europe regularly join our seminar with their new themes and discuss them intensively, while we attend the conferences in Europe and Asia and bring up our topics for discussion. These activities enrich our vision for the variety of theatre and its relations to everything which is associated with human activates.

We publish the results of our research in Japanese, German and English papers and books and report our activities on this website.
